How to Maintain Your Frizzy Hair

Frizzy hair can be a real pain, but it doesn’t have to be. With the right tricks, you can easily tame any frizz that comes your way, so you can rock voluminous waves and curls without worrying about your locks getting out of control.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!

Dry, damaged hair can often be the culprit behind frizzy locks. This happens when you use a lot of heat-styling tools, brush your hair too often, or go through frequent chemical treatments. The most effective way to fight a case of the dry frizz is to focus on hydration. Start with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner to cleanse, detangle, and seal in moisture. Follow up with a hair mask that suits your needs and add it to your routine regularly.

Trim The Ends

Hairstylists often recommend trimming the ends of your client’s hair as a way to keep frizzy locks at bay. A trim is important for a few reasons, including the fact that it helps to eliminate split ends and breakage, which can lead to frizz. For this, you can try a quick dusting (which is the simplest method) or opt for a more in-depth cut. And while dusting typically only takes off a fraction of an inch, trimming can help to take down that excess length for a more manageable look.

Use The Right Products

There are lots of products to help tame frizz. Some are meant for wavy hair, others for curly hair, and some are targeted to specific styling needs. But no matter your texture, a good shampoo and conditioner can do wonders for frizzy hair. Using the right products can nourish your strands and seal the cuticle, which prevents moisture from entering or escaping. Look for formulas that contain glycerin, which penetrates the hair fiber and hydrates from the inside out.
